Job Summary:
The Manager of Project Development and Management will oversee the planning, design, and construction of the infrastructure for the centre. This comprehensive, multi-purpose facility will meet the diverse needs of children, youth, women, and men by integrating programs in technical vocational education and training, mentoring, cultural heritage enrichment, spiritual growth, and recreation. The Manager will ensure that the project aligns with the foundation’s mission to promote principles and eco-friendly practices while addressing the identified needs of individuals and communities in Uganda.
Key Responsibilities:
Project Planning and Development
• Lead the development and documentation of project plans, objectives, timelines, and budgets for the centre.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to identify the needs and preferences of the community and ensure that project objectives align with those needs.
• Create and oversee relevant working committees to facilitate project goals.
Design and Construction Management
• Oversee the design and construction phases of the integrated infrastructure, ensuring that all components (office complex, residential oasis, training and education hub, conference pavilion, cultural and social enclave, sports arena, and agricultural farmland) meet quality standards and project specifications.
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, and other professionals to ensure successful project execution.
Stakeholder Engagement
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including community leaders, government agencies, donors, and other partners.
• Facilitate regular communication and updates regarding project progress, challenges, and achievements.
Resource Management
• Manage project resources, including personnel, materials, and finances, ensuring optimal use of resources to achieve project objectives.
• Develop and monitor project budgets, ensuring adherence to financial guidelines and reporting requirements.
Program Integration
• Work collaboratively with experts in the field to ensure effective integration of vocational education and training, mentoring, cultural heritage enrichment, and recreational programs within the facility.
• Monitor program implementation and effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to meet the project’s goals.
Compliance and Reporting
• Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and organizational policies throughout the project lifecycle.
• Prepare and submit regular reports on project progress, financial status, and impacts to foundation leadership and stakeholders.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in project management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, Urban Planning, or a related field; a Master’s degree or relevant certification (e.g., PMP) is an advantage.
• Proven experience (10+ years) in project management, particularly in the construction and development of large-scale, multi-purpose facilities.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with a track record of successful project delivery.
Skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail.
• Proficient in project management software and tools.
• Knowledge of budgeting, financial management, and reporting practices.
• Familiarity with community development principles and practices related to education, social services, and cultural heritage.
