Job Summary
The Accountant will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, compliance with tax regulations and supporting the Finance Manager in budgeting and auditing processes.
Key Responsibilities
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including processing invoices, receipts, and payment transactions.
• Record day-to-day financial transactions in the accounting system, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare financial statements and reports, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
• Reconcile bank statements and track company expenses, verifying that all transactions are properly documented.
• Prepare and file tax returns, ensuring compliance with Ugandan tax regulations, including VAT, PAYE, and corporate income tax.
• Process payroll, ensuring timely and accurate payment of salaries, benefits, and deductions.
• Support audits by preparing required documentation and responding to auditor queries.
• Collaborate with the Finance Manager to manage budgets, forecasts, and cash flow.
Qualifications & Experience
Required qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, with at least CPA level 3.
Desired experience
• At least five years of working experience in accounting/ finance. Able to prepare final books of accounts.
• Experience in annual audits. Preparation of monthly management accounts. Ability to compile and present data to management for decision making.
• Experience in using QuickBooks.
• Experience in stock control/management.
• Experience in debt management/credit control.
• Experience in managing and filing Income tax, PAYE and NSSF.
• Experience and ability to do product costing and project costing.
• Experience in tendering and project management will be an added advantage.
