Job Summary
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for the overall management, performance, and strategic direction of the manufacturing and sales operations. The GM ensures profitability, efficiency, and quality across production, sales, and customer service while fostering a culture of continuous improvement and team development. This role involves leading, coordinating and collaborating with department heads, managing budgets, and ensuring the company meets its growth and operational objectives.

Specific Responsibilities
- Develop and implement business strategies to achieve the company’s objectives and align operations with market demands.
- Oversee the preparation and execution of annual budgets and forecasts, ensuring financial targets are met.
- Analyze market trends to identify opportunities for product and market expansion.
- Strategically align all manufacturing activities to ensure market leadership in the industry and innovation-led growth.
- In liaison with the sales and marketing manager, oversee the sales team to drive revenue growth, ensure customer satisfaction, and achieve sales targets.
- Establish and maintain key performance indicators (KPIs) for all departments to monitor efficiency and effectiveness.
- As chief custodian, ensure compliance with industry regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
- Lead, mentor, and manage a team of department heads, fostering collaboration and professional growth.
- Establish a positive and motivated workplace culture, promoting teamwork and accountability.
- Identify skill gaps and coordinate training programs to enhance employee performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, clients, and regulatory bodies.
- Develop a comprehensive strategy to ensure sustained client satisfaction and loyalty.
- Drive process improvements across manufacturing and sales functions to enhance productivity and cost-efficiency.
- Monitor and assess operational risks, implementing measures to mitigate potential disruptions.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration or a related field.
- A Master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 5 years in a leadership role, preferably in a manufacturing and sales environment.
- Proven track record in managing production and sales operations with demonstrated results in revenue growth and efficiency improvement.
- Strong strategic planning and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, sales strategies and customer relationship management.
- Financial acumen; budget management and cost control.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for working with diverse teams and external stakeholders.
Additional Information
The position is both office based and field based with regular visits to production facilities, sales points and external stakeholders.
