Job Purpose: The Research Assistant in academia is responsible for supporting research projects, assisting in data collection, analysis, and literature reviews, and contributing to the writing and publication process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Literature Review & Data Collection:
• Conduct thorough literature reviews on topics related to the research project, summarizing findings and identifying key gaps in existing research.
• Assist in the design of surveys, experiments, or interviews, and collect data from various sources
• Assist with qualitative data gathering. - Data Analysis & Management:
• Organize and manage research data, ensuring data integrity and compliance with ethical standards.
• Assist in analyzing data using appropriate statistical tools or qualitative analysis methods.
• Interpret data and help identify trends or patterns that contribute to the overall research objectives. - Report Writing & Documentation:
• Contribute to the writing of research papers, reports, and academic articles by drafting sections of documents and reviewing literature.
• Assist with the preparation of research findings for publication in academic journals, conferences, or other professional outlets.
• Help maintain detailed records of research methodologies, data, and analysis. - Project Coordination & Support:
• Assist the lead researcher in project planning, coordination, and scheduling.
• Manage timelines for research deliverables and ensure that research milestones are met.
• Provide administrative support such as scheduling meetings, taking notes at research meetings, and maintaining project files. - Collaboration with Research Team:
• Collaborate with other team members, including students, postdocs, and faculty, to ensure the smooth progression of the project.
• Participate in regular research meetings and discussions, presenting findings, challenges, and progress updates.
• Provide guidance and assistance to junior researchers or students working on the project. - Ethics Compliance & Reporting:
• Ensure that research is conducted in accordance with ethical guidelines and institutional review board (IRB) protocols.
• Assist with the preparation of research ethics documentation and submissions for approval. - Grant Writing & Funding Support:
• Assist in drafting grant proposals and funding applications, including researching funding opportunities and preparing supporting documents.
• Monitor and report on research budgets, ensuring that funding is used appropriately.
Requirements:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Humanities or a related field.
• Familiarity with academic writing and citation styles
• Strong research, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
• Proficiency in statistical software or qualitative research software.
• Strong writing and communication skills,
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team setting.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
