Job Summary
The Sales Agronomist will be responsible for driving sales and providing agronomic expertise to customers, particularly farmers and agro-dealers. This role will support the company’s mission to increase agricultural productivity through the sale of fertilizers, seeds, agrochemicals, and irrigation solutions, while also delivering essential training and technical advice to clients
Key Responsibilities
• Promote and sell agricultural inputs (seeds, fertilizers, pesticides, etc.) to farmers, farmer groups, and agricultural cooperatives.
• Conduct field demonstrations, trials, and training sessions to showcase product benefits and build relationships with customers.
• Identify and develop new business opportunities, expanding the company’s market share in Uganda.
• Provide technical support and advisory services to farmers on crop management, soil health, and integrated pest management.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing, logistics, and customer service) to ensure seamless customer experience.
• Meet and exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets, submitting regular sales reports and market intelligence.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders (distributors, retailers, and influencers) in the agricultural sector.
• Stay updated on market trends, competitor activity, and industry developments to inform sales strategies.
• Develop and execute sales strategies to increase market share and customer loyalty.
• Represent the company at agricultural events, conferences, and trade shows.
Qualifications & Experience
Required qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Crop Science or a related field
Desired experience
• At least 2 years of experience in agricultural sales, marketing or extension services.
• Proven track record of meeting sales targets and expanding market share.
• Experience working with farmers, farmer organisations or agricultural cooperatives.
Key skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Fluency in local languages.
