Writer and Project Officer

Location: Kampala, Uganda (with remote work flexibility)
Key Responsibilities:
1. Content Writing and Development:
• Write engaging and accurate justice sector news stories, articles, and reports tailored for a general audience.
• Simplify complex legal and justice-related concepts, ensuring clarity and accessibility for diverse readers.
• Collaborate with editors, legal experts, and contributors to develop high-quality and relevant content.
• Stay informed on justice sector trends, court rulings, policy changes, and key events to produce timely and insightful articles.
• Maintain consistency in tone, style, and messaging across the company’s platforms and publications.
2. Project Coordination:
• Plan, implement, and monitor projects that align with the company’s mission, including special reports, campaigns, and events.
• Coordinate webinars, workshops, and panel discussions that promote public engagement with justice sector issues.
• Work with partners, journalists, and legal professionals to ensure the successful delivery of projects.
• Support the development and optimization of the company’s digital tools and platforms to enhance audience engagement.
3. Stakeholder Engagement and Communication:

• Act as a primary liaison between the company, contributors, partners, and the public.
• Build and maintain relationships with stakeholders, fostering productive and collaborative partnerships.
• Draft newsletters, press releases, and other communications to inform and engage the company’s audience.
4. Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting:
• Design and implement frameworks to measure the success of projects and content.
• Collect feedback from audiences and stakeholders to refine content and improve future initiatives.
• Prepare reports on project progress, outcomes, and recommendations for growth and impact.
Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, Law, or a related field. Additional qualifications in Project Management or Media Studies are a bonus.
• Minimum of 2 years in writing or journalism.
• Exceptional writing and editorial skills, with a strong command of English and attention to detail.
• Ability to translate complex legal or justice-related information into engaging and relatable content.
• Proven project management skills, with experience in planning, coordinating, and executing initiatives.
• Proficiency with digital content tools, project management software, and analytics platforms is an asset.
• Experience in legal journalism, justice reporting, or public communications.
• Familiarity with the justice system in Uganda and the broader East African region.
• A passion for making legal and justice-related information accessible and meaningful.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders.
